It has been an extraordinary adventure selling this sassy Victorian home! These “elderly lovlies” have a personality all their own. I have had a bit of an affair with real estate as many of you know, and sometimes I just find a particular property full of fun. Harper House (as the seller and I fondly refer her) has been a BLAST. We determined months ago that we wanted to be sure we did this Bohemian lady justice.
What does that mean? Well, we did NOT just stick a sign in front of this home and post it on the MLS. First, the seller finished several projects so that when she handed over the keys to the next owner, her Harper House would be ready for prime time. Then we had the grounds, decks, and interior cleaned, spruced, and finally staged, to bring attention to the many upgrades that have been made to Harper over the years.
Why Bohemian? This is NOT a painted lady stuffy Victorian. She has a rich artist’s flair, and many of the upgrades are just amazing additions to living there comfortably. You would have had to have been there, but there are still handmade doors with original hardware, original wood floors, built in linen closet with glass doors, and countless other very antique touches. BUT there was newer wiring, plumbing and heating, not to mention new roof and sewer lines. The gardens had been upgraded to take advantage of the lovely sloped lot, and, while doing the digging, many historical items were unearthed that were passed along to the new buyer.
Welcome to Ms. Mary Jo. We think you will love life at Harper House. I hope you will find walking to town for coffee or a glass of wine, enjoying the weekly Hot Summer Nights, Music in the Mountains, and all the other wonderful parts of living in Grass Valley a new lifestyle worth the wait.
If you too are seeking a sweet Victorian, give me a call. I soon will have another one to add to my ever changing inventory, and I just know it too will be a passionate sale and purchase.
