ATTENTION GOLFERS! JULY 9, 2017, NOON until dusk at the Lake Wildwood Country Club in Penn Valley, CA.
Take a look: this is what my “host the hole” booth looked like last year in 2016 for the 16th annual Fr. Phaelan Golf Tournament at Lake Wildwood Country Club. This fundraiser is one of the biggest of the year, hosted by the Knights of Columbus from St Patricks’ Parish in Grass Valley, and several others. Me included! The proceeds for the event are divided between several good “causes”, but my heart is in supporting our local Catholic School, St Mary’s Academy.
As many of you know, I am not a golfer! I love the game and used to play a little, but found spending many hours on the course, and practicing putting, just took me away from my real passions too much. My business and my family are still my main focus. But I do love to tithe my time and talents to a good cause. This tournament fills my dance card better than most. Each year I put the names of all my clients who love golf into a brown paper bag and have husband Ed pull out one lucky winner. I treat this client to a round of golf for helping me support my cause, by coming out and PLAYING. In addition I host a hole. I will be providing cold drinks, tasty treats, and of course a flag to each of the golfers as they play through my part of the course. I have the added pleasure of hanging out with two very favorite friends, Bill and Lynn McDaniel of Grass Valley. We are all so busy that we rarely get a chance to just sit and catch up. This afternoon on the “host the hole” is our opportunity to have fellowship, and I look forward to it more each year.
I am happy to announce that Ray Olson, of Alta Sierra, is the lucky winner of a day of golf at Lake Wildwood. Ray and his lovely wife Gretchen purchased a home I had listed last May, and moved up to Alta Sierra after retiring from their careers in Walnut Creek. I am hoping Ray and his foursome will be the winners of the tournament and also pray they enjoy every single moment on this beautiful private golf course.
As they used to say on television, STAY TUNED, and I will let you know who WINS. Pray it doesn’t get too hot!
