YEAH! Technology! Many of us, me included, have a bit of a love hate relationship with the ever evolving technology. I have learned to choose my battles. The love part is that I can get so much more information to you and others with this blog! I love being able to do much of the behind the scenes work together from the heart of my office: my desktop. I could go on and on, as you might suspect, and tell you all the wonders of how technology helps real estate agents, but the bottom line is that I am able to do more for you as a result of the great information highway. I have had to spend many years honing skills on this computer that I never thought I would need to have, but I thank God, and my humble typing teacher back in eighth grade, for teaching me how to type.
There are many tech programs online that my clients use to locate properties. You all know about the Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com brands. They have CHANGED the way our buyers seek information about the areas and homes they are seeking. One can sit on their sofa and shop homes anywhere in the world today. No trips abroad to look for a vacation home! You simply go to the Internet and you can find them. This is huge! It has changed the way we conduct our business advertising model since the 90’s. Each year there are more streamlined ways of doing this. My job is to be sure you understand that some of these places cannot be entirely trusted as the TRUTH of what is happening in that market. WE all love “zestimates” for example. That was a fun way to find out what the Zillow people thought your home was worth. To date, they are getting better, but for many years they were seriously OFF on their estimates of value. It was an uphill battle for me and other professionals to help clients overcome the realities of the market place.
So SHOP your way through all that information. =But be clear, I have created a website that has tools for you that are simple and effective. Many of the sites are not showing just “available” homes. The market in many places is so hot that by the time you find a home online, it is sold and has several back up offers. So technology can be a tease even when it is working correctly.
The most important tech tool you can have as buyers? A computer with www.strikegoldingrassvalley.com on the favorites, and a professional realtor (yes, me!) to answer all those questions, and find you the property before the sale pending sign goes up!
