Who doesn’t want to cash in on some money California has for lowering emissions? There is a little told tale these days that there is actually another 18 month window of opportunity to get some help with retrofitting older homes to lower their energy emissions.
This is a program called Energy Upgrade California. You can find out more at energyupgrade-CA.org. Or you can call me for the link to Brett or contact him at Brett@efficient-energy-solutions.net.
This is what I understand: If your home is older than 15 years old, you can make application for funds to do energy upgrades like whole house fans, insulation, on-demand water heaters, windows, and even HVAC systems all qualify for financial assistance. There are no requirements for income for the owner. Just some hoops one must go through for the upgrades. Like having to use qualified contractors who have been approved by the state to do the retrofits. So, no matter what, do the homework UP FRONT, or you might not qualify.
I think it is pretty cool! Here in my area, there are many homes that might qualify for this FREE money. Imagine this summer not having to deal with a dinosaur A/C unit? What would it be like to draw cool morning air into your home with a new “quiet” whole house fan? I think it is worth investigating, and you might just be one of the lucky ones to get some assistance. The tax payers here in CA have been funding this program for a while now, so if you are one of them, you might want to be rebated some of your hard earned CASH! Why NOT?
Call me if you have any more questions and we can find out more about this program together. If you learn about the details, or if you take advantage of it, please let me know so I can report on my blog how it works and IF it is as cool as it sounds.
